Chapter 70: Bang!

Bella had managed to break away from the group, she used Sam’s lapse in priorities to her advantage.

Bella seemed to have a different motive besides saving Jason and it was showing because she slipped into a building amid the excitement.

The darkness was her ally and she had every intention of exploiting it, Bella lived with Liam most time but she also had her private space considering the kind of man that Liam was but the house she had entered was the home in which she occupied alone.

Bella looked calm, a sense of nostalgia washed over her but she came here to accomplish something.

Bella dug her hand into her drawer in hopes of finding something but the anxious look on her face told her that it was missing.

Someone had taken it, Bella looked worried.

"Bella..." A voice called out behind her and Bella took a deep breath before turning around.

"It is you..." Liam blurted out with a broad smile but Bella didn’t share his excitement.

She realized at that moment that he was the one that must have what she was looking for so she had to find a way to entice him.

"I-I’m sorry Liam..." Bella said and Liam could feel his heart flutter, the thing about Liam was that he had given Bella the benefit of the doubt so many times and due to his position and standing, he could protect her effectively from all others.

Bella exploited this but this didn’t mean she was exempt from runs outside the walls

Bella began to crave something that would excite and this was why she slipped back into her old habits.

She wanted to turn a new leaf but she couldn’t for the life she lived was stupendously boring.

Bella was a killer before the world fell and the police were getting closer to capturing her but she wasn’t alone in her endeavor. Liam, her husband, was active in these killing sprees.

They would lure unsuspecting girls back to their place, where Bella would record her husband violating them and sometimes even joining in.

Unlike his wife, Liam knew this world was an opportunity to turn a new leaf and he took full advantage of it, he suppressed his intrusive thoughts but Bella couldn’t seem to keep it in check.

"It is fine, as long as you return to me. I will always forgive you." Liam said with a broad smile, spreading his arms apart to invite her into his embrace

Bella walked forward and embraced her husband but the embrace wasn’t loving.

The moment Bella realized it, it was too late as Liam grabbed her by the neck.

Bella managed to break free from his embrace by punching him right in the stomach with all her strength.

"Bella... You came here because of him, didn’t you?" Liam asked, taking note of what Alex had said. Liam knew Bella better than herself and knew she would never come back if her life was in danger so there was something worth making her take this risk.

"My time away from you has made you delusional, Liam!" Bella told her husband but Liam wasn’t having it.

"How so?" Liam asked.

"I came back because I didn’t have a choice," Bella said and Liam raised a brow the moment he heard this, it was beginning to sound like Bella had brought back people with her.

"I’m not alone," Bella spilt the beans.

Jason was breathing hard, he wasn’t going to let them have their way; he had managed to acquire EXP but Chronos didn’t offer a new skill for him to buy.

"Fucking undead pieces of shit, I will fuck you all up!" Jason barked but the look in his eyes, Sam noticed that something had changed, almost as if he had snapped.

This was no longer the look of an inferior person but someone that had something to prove, a man with genuine hatred.

"Fascinating..." Sam muttered under his breath, he was surprised that the man could even move with that many injuries on him.

This was more than adrenaline, there was something else at play and Sam couldn’t pinpoint what it was but even Jason couldn’t escape fatigue.

There was a limited amount of time before his body gave up on him, there was no way he could remain standing for too long but Jason’s bat managed to make contact with another’s zombie’s lower body, tearing the torso open as the rotten organs spilled out of it.

His body was feeling it and his legs, were wobbly but the number of zombies was still troublesome.

"What is wrong with Jason?" Rachel asked, sounding genuinely concerned.

"Something bad..." Clementine responded but Sam interrupted her.

"Bad? That is nonsense. Jason has finally understood what this world is, he no longer views it with the eyes of a child. That is a man that is angry that his kindness was taken advantage of..." Sam responded with a wide grin.

"We need to cause a diversion of some sort..." Sam said but the moment he said that; there was a gunshot in the distance.

Everyone rushed to the location because it was prohibited to shoot out your gun without valid reason as they couldn’t waste ammunition.

The silence told about the worrying reality of the situation and a feminine scream soon followed.

That was when Sam realized that Bella wasn’t with them, he looked around and no one could blame him for thinking she was the one responsible for this.

"Fuck Clementine! Where is Bella!?" Sam barked at her, she expected Clementine to be more cautious considering the threat that Bella possessed.

"They have killed a Specter!!" A man shouted. His voice echoed.

"THEY HAVE KILLED LIAM!" The voice warned and the moment this was said, the gates were sealed shut. The game was stopped and Jason was yanked away from the arena and dragged somewhere unknown.

Sam didn’t know what was going on but everything in his body told him that Bella had something to do with this but the enemies weren’t stupid.

There knew there was a chance that they were being followed, Alex covered his tracks as best as he could but there was no reason why what he did when he tracked Sam couldn’t be done to him.

"He is here..." Alex muttered to himself and one thing was sure, he had no plans of letting Sam leave here alive.
