Chapter 146: Target: Hospital!
Chapter 146: Target: Hospital!
Jason, Franklin, and Clementine were ready to set out on their venture after a week of preparation.
Clementine was oblivious to the sex romp that Jason was embarking on every night, he still didn’t know her name despite burying his dick in her every night.
Jason was getting a tad bit worried as the probability of them completing this was unknown.
Clementine was calm but she was aware of the dangers that this mission carried.
One mistake was all it took but she didn’t know if these people were aware that one could camouflage themselves by covering their body with the zombie’s guts.
This was valuable information that she kept to herself as if she spilt it, their need for them would cease to exist.
The only reason they needed them was so they could embark on this ’suicide’ mission.
Franklin wasn’t aware of this either as this was the first time he would be embarking on such a task and his very first encounter with a horde.
A little over ten men were given to them, these numbers weren’t nearly enough to make a dent in terms of fighting a horde but they knew the environment better than their guests.
This was the only reason A even assigned them to the team.
They used a car to travel the roads, the hospital wasn’t so far but they were aware of the dangers that waited for them should they walk.
The amount of zombies spotted on their way there was proof and Jason couldn’t believe that so many people had died.
"What the hell..." Jason muttered under his breath, his pupils dilated as he tried to comprehend what might have happened here.
"The zombies won," Franklin responded to the young man’s confusion and Jason sighed the moment he heard this.
The city was shit, and everything within sight was in shambles, stores burnt to a crisp and every corner riddled with zombies.
"Why did they bring the car?" Franklin asked because it seemed to be drawing zombies towards their location which wasn’t a problem now but it could be as they would certainly be in their way should they return using this same road.
"They intend to drop us off, just the three of us then drive around to try and draw as many zombies away as possible from our location..." Jason responded and everyone was surprised.
He hit it right on the head and Franklin wanted to know how he knew this.
Jason could tell by their looks that they wanted to know how he knew.
"The speaker didn’t come with the car and I don’t see why an attachment of such would be in the car as it burns more fuel as it consumes the battery faster unless it was going to be used. The roads we used, there were shorter routes we could have taken but we would have been left blind by the zombies in these other locations," Jason said, he used his map to discern this.
The map was like a GPS, even when he didn’t use the scanning feature.
Clementine wanted to ask how Jason knew this but she remembered he was a gamer.
He could analyze things differently from others and this showed his intelligence wasn’t tied to the game alone.
"We have arrived, are you sure you three are okay going in alone?" A man asked but Jason didn’t respond and simply hopped out of the car with Clementine and Franklin following suit.
The zombies around were being drawn to the car and this gave them a window to leave the vicinity.
The moment they did, a loud song began playing, it was as Jason said, they were drawing the zombies away from the area.
They were at the hospital’s gate which was wide open.
"Are you sure it was a good idea to come here without any backup?" Franklin asked and Jason nodded.
"We’re going to walk past them, don’t make a sound," Jason warned and Franklin was confused by this statement.
Clementine grabbed a lone zombie that had wandered off from the rest of the pack allowing her to pick it off easily.
Franklin was confused as to why she did it, she did go out of her way to do it after all.
But he got his answer soon after as she plunged her knife into his stomach and tore it open.
Franklin’s face showed his disgust but Jason raised his finger to shush him.
Franklin was no longer the one responsible for their survival and he knew as of that moment, that they were all equals.
"Shut up and watch Franklin," Jason said, this was uncharacteristic of Jason but the look in his eyes had dimmed once again.
Franklin did just that and he watched Clementine cover herself with zombie guts but Jason followed suit soon after before looking at Franklin.
Franklin was hesitant but he knew he had no choice but to do it too and he did just that.
Jason was the one that was going to lead and Clementine trusted him as she had seen him in such a situation before.
"There is something different about him..." Clementine thought to herself but she wasn’t going to think about it too much.
It didn’t take long for the car to be out of sight and with that; there was still a sizable amount of zombies left around the hospital.
"Walk..." Jason said and everyone began right towards the zombies.
Franklin thought they were mad and hung back but it was as Jason said, they walked right past them.
"W-What?" Franklin thought; this was a game changer because if they were armed with this information, there was no limit as to what they could do.
The raiders could walk freely among the dead begging the question as to why it wasn’t made known to them.
Franklin was getting suspicious of these two because it was clear that they were keeping things from them but he decided to bite his tongue for now.
Talking about it wouldn’t make a difference and would only put them on guard, this was one thing Franklin couldn’t have.
They made their way into the hospital and they noticed that there were even more zombies inside, the staff and patients clearly didn’t make it out.
The stench was overwhelming, there were zombies whose skin had merged with the floor, and the amount of rot was unprecedented.
Franklin did everything in his power not to barf because he knew the zombies would be on him but would they even be able to perceive him with something so nasty?
However, something strange happened, Clementine thought she was thinking too much about it but the zombies seemed to be turning when they passed.
It was like they were aware of their presence but didn’t know exactly what.
They couldn’t speak to one another so all she did was bump into Jason lightly, prompting him to stop in his tracks to see what was going on.
Clementine used her eyes to draw his attention to the walking dead around him.
Jason noticed that they all seemed to be confused, it wasn’t like last time.
It was like they were searching for something that they couldn’t find.
"Fuck! The fragment!" Jason thought to himself, he didn’t know it would have this much of an effect around other zombies.
He began to walk fast as he knew they had to leave this area before the zombies started attacking.
Chronos had informed him of this but he didn’t know it was to this degree as he expected something on a much smaller scale.
Jason and co managed to find a room on the second floor where they could catch their breath but not after taking care of the zombies that lurked in the room.
"What was that?" Clementine asked Jason.
"I have no idea, it has never happened before!" Jason responded meanwhile Franklin was still amazed that it had even worked in the first place.
"The zombies, it’s like they knew we were there but didn’t know where. That shouldn’t be possible, we covered ourselves in their guts!" Clementine was showing worry for the first time in a very long time.
She was losing her cool and who could blame her, if this didn’t work, they were in the middle of a hospital filled with zombies, this would very well be their graveyard.
"I have it under control, we know where the medicine is, you both should go get it!" Jason commanded and Franklin was lost in this conversation.
He didn’t know what was going on but something told him that Jason knew what he was doing.
They had to trust him because there was no way he would allow one of his own to die.
Clementine has been with Jason and it was becoming evident that they must have had one hell of an experience.
"I think we should listen to him," Franklin said and Clementine gritted her teeth because she didn’t like the thought of leaving him.
The last time she did something like this was with Sam and that was only because Sam had the means to take care of himself.
"Jason, you better not die!" Clementine said as she headed to the door alongside Franklin.
"Right back at ya!" Jason gave a cheeky response but the moment they left the room.
Jason grabbed the fragment, the zombies couldn’t be allowed to get their hands on it.
And if he tried to destroy it, it would only be shattered into even more pieces.
"Fuck! This isn’t looking good..." Jason noticed the zombies were beginning to gather at the door and he was well aware that the door wouldn’t hold either.
He had to make a choice and fast.
