Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies

Chapter 309: Battle against Alien

Chapter 309: Battle against Alien

Its screech echoed throughout the area, frightening many of the mutated beasts lurking nearby.

Even people in the surrounding buildings heard the piercing sound, turning their heads toward the source of the menacing noise.

"So loud. Can you shut up? I haven’t even started yet, and you’re already crying?" Elena sneered, looking at the alien with clear disgust.

Yes, the creature standing before her was the alien she had long despised. And now, it seemed they had finally begun their agenda around City A.

Provoked by her words, the alien grew furious. It glared at Elena with undisguised hostility, its eyes filled with the desire to torture and devour her alive.

However, seeing how calm and confident the two humans were, the alien held back for the moment. It watched them carefully, trying to gauge their strength before making its move.

"Wife... is this the alien you were talking about?" Ethan asked with a frown, noticing the way the creature stared at Elena as if it wanted to tear her apart.

"And it seems it can understand us."

Just as Elena had described, the alien looked like a humanoid lizard with six limbs. Its twisted, scaled legs were smeared with black pus that slowly dripped down its body.

Its eyes glowed a bloody red, and thick strands of acidic black saliva hung from its mouth.

In appearance, it was just as grotesque as the Tier-1 mutated creatures.

But one thing set this alien apart—it was strong, and it seemed intelligent.

Elena glanced at Ethan with approval.

"It does. They adapt quickly to this world because they eat the brains of the people they kill, absorbing their memories. Judging by its humanoid form, it must have already eaten quite a few to evolve like this."

Before the couple could say more, the alien suddenly moved.

Instead of attacking them, it lunged toward its unfinished prey—the injured man.

But Ethan had already anticipated its move. He reacted instantly, counterattacking with his shadow ability.

"[Shadow Forge] — Vines."

Dark shadows surged across the ground, twisting into snake-like shapes that slithered toward the alien.

The shadows first formed a barrier around the injured man, shielding him, before the snake-like forms stretched into thick ropes that tried to bind the creature.

Sensing the danger, the alien immediately leapt upward onto a nearby tree, narrowly evading the attack. From its perch, it glared at Ethan with a dangerous expression.

But before it could retaliate, Elena struck a continuous attack.

"[Spatial Slash]."

Soon, two blades of spatial energy shot toward the alien at incredible speed.

Boom!

A loud explosion echoed as the battle officially began.

Several trees were knocked down by the sheer force of the attack, while the larger ones barely managed to withstand the violent shockwave.

This time, Elena had poured more spiritual energy into the attack, making it far more lethal than before.

Meanwhile, the alien staggered backward after being struck directly by one of the spatial slashes, but it quickly recovered and stood ready to retaliate.

Seeing that her ability could injure the alien, Elena quickly came to a conclusion and warned Ethan.

"It’s a Tier-1 alien. Be careful. It’s far more dangerous than mutated creatures at the same rank. Its healing ability and overall capabilities are superior in many aspects."

Ethan nodded in understanding. Without needing to say more, the two moved in perfect coordination.

Their plan was simple—distract the alien and rescue the injured man first, since he might hold information about the aliens.

"[Blink]."

"[Shadow Cloak]."

Elena instantly appeared beside the wounded man, while Ethan kept the alien occupied, making sure its attention stayed on him.

"[Shadow Forge] Thorny vines."

Soon, waves of shadows surged across the battlefield as Ethan repeatedly used his ability, forming barriers and strikes that forced the alien away from the man.

However, the alien quickly realized what they were trying to do and roared in fury.

Its piercing screech echoed across the area once more, but this time it sounded different—as if it were calling something.

And there it appeared. The mutated creatures that had been hiding nearby suddenly turned their heads toward the battlefield, hypnotized by the sound.

Moments later, a swarm of mutated pests—rats, cockroaches, and other creatures—began crawling out from every direction.

They gathered around the battlefield, surrounding the area as they joined the fight.

"It’s calling minions," Ethan said, sensing the swarm of mutated pests approaching.

Without hesitation, he used his shadow ability to form a barricade.

But with the number of mutated pests flooding in, it would only be a matter of time before they were completely surrounded.

Elena noticed it as well. Without wasting time, she sent the injured man into space temporarily before turning to Ethan.

"It’s an alien ability," she said calmly. "Don’t worry. It won’t last long—it needs dead energy to sustain that skill."

Since dead energy was still scarce in the area, Elena’s confidence in defeating the alien rose. All they needed to do was stall until the creature exhausted itself.

She had deliberately provoked it earlier. Well, aliens were notoriously arrogant and carried an overwhelming superiority complex.

Now that it was enraged, it then used its ability to control a large number of mutated creatures, steadily draining its own dead energy.

It was only a matter of time before the alien weakened.

And when that moment came, Elena intended to sever its head—the most effective way to kill an alien instantly.

A sinister smile appeared on her face, making Ethan’s hair stand on end.

Soon, the mutated creatures broke through parts of their defenses.

Elena and Ethan quickly moved behind a massive tree, observing the battlefield carefully without taking their eyes off the alien.

From time to time, they launched attacks with their abilities, targeting the alien just enough to provoke it further.

"[Spatial Slash]."

"[Shadow Forge]: Shooting Nails."

Their guerrilla tactics worked perfectly.

The alien grew increasingly irritated as the two humans struck from hidden angles, then vanished before it could retaliate.

It felt as if they were toying with it, and the humiliation made it seethe with anger.

It had always been the one hunting—playing with its prey and torturing them slowly. But now, the roles have reversed.

"ROOOAR!"

The alien roared in fury, its head whipping around wildly as it searched for the humans.

One moment they were there—then suddenly gone—only to reappear from another direction with another attack.

Their constant blinking and shadow movements made them impossible to track.

Frustrated, the alien finally made a decision. If it couldn’t find them... it would simply destroy everything.

"Grrrrrr..."

Boom! It slammed its fist into the ground with terrifying force.

The impact shook the earth, sending cracks spreading across the soil as nearby trees toppled over like falling dominoes.

Boom! Boom!

It struck again and again.

Area after area was cleared violently until the once dense forest turned into a wide, barren field.

Under the scorching sun, the alien stood in the center of the newly flattened ground, while the swarm of mutated pests it controlled surged forward toward Elena and Ethan’s last known location.

But the couple had already moved.

Elena appeared on one side of the field. Ethan emerged from another.

Sensing them, the alien lunged again toward them like a raging beast, destroying everything in its path as it chased their movements.

But suddenly—

The mutated pests began retreating. Rats and cockroaches scattered in panic, fleeing away from the battlefield as if escaping from a predator.

Elena noticed it immediately and informed Ethan, "Its energy is running out. The alien’s control was weakening."

"[Shadow Forge] Bind."

Ethan reacted instantly. Shadows burst from the ground like living chains.

Dark tendrils wrapped around the alien’s limbs, tightening like iron ropes and pinning it in place.

The alien struggled violently, roaring as the shadows constricted around its body.

At the same time, Elena gathered her power.

Spatial energy condensed along her arm, forming a sharp, invisible blade.

One strike. All she needed was one clean strike.

And the moment Ethan fully restrained it, Elena then blinked forward.

She appeared right beside the alien.

But the moment she was about to release her ability— she felt something was wrong.

The alien’s bloody red eyes locked onto her. And then... It smiled. A smug, terrifying smile.

Before Elena could react— A blur shot through the battlefield.

Another alien appeared at terrifying speed and rushed straight toward Ethan.

Boom!

Its fist slammed into his chest with explosive force. The impact sent him flying across the field before crashing violently into a massive tree.

"Ethan!" Elena shouted in desperation.
