Chapter 292: Maxim Sinclair Is Willing to Change for Summer Lowell
Chapter 292: Maxim Sinclair Is Willing to Change for Summer Lowell
Maxim Sinclair casually turned off the light, and the room was once again shrouded in darkness.
Summer Lowell maintained her previous posture, staring blankly.
Already lying down, Maxim noticed her daze and reached out to pat her hand: "Autumn nights are chilly, you should get some sleep. If you want to think about things, you can lie down and cover yourself with the blanket."
"Oh." Summer responded, obediently sliding down and pulling the blanket over her as he suggested.
On the other side, Maxim quickly turned over, facing away from her, and after a while, the sound of steady breathing came over.
He was already asleep.
Summer withdrew her gaze, clutching the blanket with both hands, her eyes staring straight at the ceiling above.
What exactly is going on with Maxim Sinclair?
His behavior now... is somewhat peculiar, quite unlike his usual self.
To say he’s tired and bored of me doesn’t quite fit.
At least when discussing the studio with me earlier, every suggestion he made was grounded, his tone gentle and patient, not like someone who is fed up with me.
But if it were before, Maxim’s attitude and tone weren’t this distant, maybe even somewhat cold.
Unable to figure out a clue, Summer knocked her head and also turned her back to Maxim, giving up trying to guess his thoughts and fell into a deep sleep.
On the other side, Maxim slowly opened his eyes, listening carefully to the steady breathing behind him.
It’s not that he was intentionally being distant, it’s just that during his recent trip abroad, being separated by an ocean’s length, he found himself seriously contemplating his relationship and situation with Summer for the first time.
Originally, he thought he had already tightly bound Summer to himself.
But looking deeper, disregarding that contract, the genuine affection between him and Summer was as fragile as a thread that could be snapped by a breeze.
It shouldn’t be this way; this is not what he originally wanted.
Before meeting Summer, he was always busy with his career, uninterested in romance, without much experience to guide him.
After much thought with no winning strategy in sight, Maxim decided to temporarily cool down his relationship with Summer.
Letting Summer go was not something he was pleased to see.
But a temporary cool down, allowing both sides to calm down and slowly reconcile, was something he could accept.
It seems to be working now.
At least Summer has started to actively interact with him, even if it’s about work, but she is finally willing to accept the studio he had prepared for her long ago.
This is a good start, and for now, his idea seems to be quite effective.
He hopes this is a good beginning.
Since the studio was prepared a long time ago, all personnel documents were complete, just waiting for Summer, the boss, to take over.
Therefore, the studio opened very quickly.
Moreover, on the opening day, Maxim, without shying away, had Assistant Collins bring gifts and flower baskets, high profile, to support Summer.
So within just two hours of opening, the news that the boss was Maxim Sinclair’s legally acknowledged wife, Summer Lowell, spread throughout the entire circle.
This also included Justin Huxley, who, although had fallen from grace again, had not completely exited the circle.
At this moment, his circumstances were neither good nor bad.
Omni Group had been split, but the Huxley Family still had several small businesses to barely maintain a comfortable life.
Justin Huxley himself was very cunning, having already prepared a way out for himself before taking action against Mr. Huxley.
At this moment, he was staying in a property he had bought using money he acquired from the Huxley Family through less-than-honorable means.
His previous assistant, Cameron Young, had already abandoned him, reportedly gone abroad, back to his own home.
Now, by Justin’s side was a new assistant, who, although not as capable as Cameron Young, at least wouldn’t abandon him.
The new assistant, Joel Lowell, clumsily organized the documents: "President Huxley, these are the materials for tomorrow’s meeting, and they have been prepared for you."
Justin Huxley moved his gaze from the computer in front of him, flipped through the documents, and then looked up to ask the assistant: "I have an address for you to check out."
The assistant took one look at the address and immediately understood what Justin wanted.
Although he was newly promoted to assist Justin,
he had previously been assisting Cameron Young and knew about the relationship between Justin, the Sinclair Family, and that young Mrs. Sinclair.
Within an hour, the assistant had gathered the information Justin wanted.
Justin Huxley looked at the neatly organized photos the assistant had placed before him and smiled: "After all this time, it turns out to be a case of the mantis stalking the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind!"
The assistant dared not respond and seeing his coffee was finished, took the cup to pour him another.
"No need for coffee, bring me a bottle of wine," Justin pointed to a distant wine cabinet, his gaze returning to the photos in front of him, "I didn’t expect to be caught in a honey trap. Summer Lowell, I am not someone to be trifled with. You played me, so you’re going to pay the price."
...
In the sanatorium, Tina Huxley paused when she saw who was standing at the door after coming out of the restroom: "What are you doing here?"
Justin Huxley straightened up: "Seeing if there’s anything I can help with."
Tina believed none of it: "Leave before I decide to hit you."
"I came to tell you something. I plan to go abroad, but since you’re still in Stellarion, I’m afraid you won’t be able to identify who the real enemy is."
Justin’s cryptic words left Tina confused: "You can speak plainly."
"Alright, it’s not something complicated," Justin nodded, "I wanted to tell you that we were played by Summer Lowell and Maxim Sinclair."
Tina raised an eyebrow: "Why should I believe you?"
"I was set up by Summer and Maxim," Justin’s face was full of resentment, "Believe it or not, I’m telling you this. Think about your current situation and make sure you don’t resent the wrong person."
Finished, Justin turned to leave, walking swiftly away from the premises.
Though skeptical, Tina found the seed of doubt planted in her heart.
As time passed, Justin’s words began to make more sense to her.
Alongside her growing suspicion, she began investigating Summer.
When she discovered the studio where Summer currently worked, she finally chose to believe Justin’s previous statement.
Perhaps it was exactly as he said.
All of it was a plot orchestrated by Summer Lowell and Maxim Sinclair.
That would explain everything.
Tina, looking at her current situation, felt her hatred for Summer reach its peak.
Maxim Sinclair might be out of her league, but one Summer Lowell, she could handle.
Moreover, since Summer was deeply loved by Maxim, targeting her would certainly cause him pain.
Make him experience excruciating pain.
