Chapter 84: I want to make a request
Chapter 84: I want to make a request
Chen Song and Mafa watched the entire LNG vs. LGD match together.
In the first game, Sofm dominated the tempo, leading his team to a 12-6 victory.
The second game followed almost the same rhythm as the first, with Sofm stepping up again and crushing LGD 15-5 in the same amount of time.
2: 0!
The match was a foregone conclusion; LNG defeated LGD with an overwhelming advantage.
"My God, LNG is completely dominating in one-sided battles."
Mafa couldn't help but sigh.
Chen Song had already anticipated this outcome.
His original guess was LNG 2:1 LGD, after all, LGD wasn't so weak that it could be completely crushed.
The outcome surprised most people; under Sofm's suffocating rhythm, LGD was powerless to resist.
Chen Song turned to Mafa and asked, "Coach Mafa, don't you think Coach Karam's loss to LNG last time was justified?"
Mafa nodded: "Sofm is still a bit too overpowered. If LNG's mid and bot lanes were a bit stronger, the potential of this team would be immeasurable."
Chen Song glanced at the time, turned to Mafa, and smiled, "Coach Mafa, the practice match later is in your hands."
Mafa realized the problem and shook his head with a smile: "Don't look at me like that. Let me tell you, it's impossible."
"Coach Mafa, it's been so long since I heard you give us a draft pick."
TheShy had been resting and had been in the scrim for about 15 minutes when he heard Chen Song and Mafa's conversation the whole time.
Chen Song stared at him with an expression that seemed to say, "TheShy, you really understand me." It has to be said that after spending time together, Chen Song's relationship with the players has become better and better.
With TheShy's help, Chen Song quickly pulled out his notebook and handed it to Mafa: "Here are the results of tonight's scrims. You can take a look."
Mafa took the notebook and his face darkened. The reason was simple: the contents of the notebook were written clearly in Korean, including what the opposing team would ban and what heroes they would pick.
He stared at Chen Song, cursing, "He even wrote down the details of the training match in Korean. Chen Song's move is pretty clever."
But Chen Song had already put his headphones back on and was staring at the screen again.
......
"I've never seen today's commentary before."
Chen Song stared at the screen, muttering to himself.
The second match tonight is RW vs EDG.
The commentators were a man and a woman; the man was called Xiaosan, and the woman was called Shuyi.
Compared to their commentary, Chen Song still prefers Miller Doll and Guan Zeyuan.
Since IG won the S8 World Championship, the popularity of LPL has reached its highest point in history.
Regardless of which LPL team's match it is, in addition to the venue being packed with guests, Weibo, Tieba, and forums are also exceptionally lively.
The screen is already flooded with comments:
[Zhou Jie's commentary is so awkward...]
[Xiaosan is alright, considering it's her former profession.]
Has anyone noticed that LNG crushed their opponent 2-0 today?
Sofm, my Superman!
Chen Song glanced at the barrage of comments and turned them off, focusing his attention back on the screen.
The match had entered the ban/pick phase. He looked at the heroes banned by both sides and habitually simulated the lineups and strategies of both sides in his mind.
RW first picked Aatrox, but EDG countered by picking Olaf and Karma. EDG had a very comfortable Aatrox pick, and they're having a bit of a headache.
The business negotiations between the two sides ended quickly, and Chen Song stared at the screen, lost in thought.
"RW's lineup..." he muttered to himself.
The first game's ban/pick phase has been finalized for both sides.
Blue side RW: Top lane Sion, Jungle Aatrox, Mid lane Zoe, Bot lane Ezreal and Yuumi.
Red team EDG: Top lane Karma, Jungle Olaf, Mid lane LeBlanc, Bot lane Sivir and Galakrond.
Mafa leaned over for a look and couldn't help but comment, "With this lineup, can RW win?"
"I don't understand either. Why did RW choose the same lineup as Coach Karam?"
Chen Song sighed, "They're either getting pushed back in lane or can't win in lane, which puts RW in a very passive position. But maybe RW has some surprises up their sleeve."
In the commentary booth, Xiaosan was analyzing: "RW's lineup is under a lot of pressure in the early game, and they must have enough advantage in the mid-game to end the game. For EDG, as long as Karma and Lux's double shields make the team's survival environment very good, as long as EDG can maintain their rhythm, the higher the ceiling of this lineup will be in the late game."
Shuyi chimed in: "I think there's something really awkward about RW's lineup. They pick heroes that are difficult to lane against in the early game. If you can hold your ground in the early game, you'll be incredibly strong in the mid to late game. But the heroes RW picked aren't that strong in the mid to late game either."
As Chen Song was intently watching the match, Su Xiaoluo suddenly walked into the training room.
"I have something to tell you all." Su Xiaoluo's tone was a little anxious: "It's about the Intercontinental Cup. The next match is against JDG. There's a rule there that substitute players for the Intercontinental Cup must have played in the last match of the regular season. So Duke has to play in the next match, and TheShy will be rotated in. Otherwise, Duke won't even make the roster."
Intercontinental competition?
Upon hearing this, Chen Song's mind raced, and he realized that his memory of the concept of the Intercontinental Championship was completely blank.
Furthermore, since joining IG, he has been busy with tactics and training, and has not studied these issues related to the competition format.
TheShy's expression didn't change much after hearing this.
At this moment, Chen Song stood up and walked up to Su Xiaoluo: "Manager Su, I would like to make a request to you."
"you say."
Chen Song's tone was straightforward: "The next match is against JDG. Since Duke is playing, I want Coach Karam to play. I'll stay at the base and give TheShy special training."
Su Xiaoluo raised an eyebrow: "Aren't you going to participate in the draft phase?"
Chen Song nodded: "Letting Duke play temporarily means the lineup and system will be different from when TheShy is on the field. I think Karam will do a better job than me. Also, the Intercontinental Cup is coming soon, and I still need to work on TheShy's laning details and team fight engagement timing. I'll take advantage of these few days to give him some special training."
Su Xiaoluo pondered, "Is it okay with Karam's side?"
"Coach Mafa will go along and cover for you, so there shouldn't be any problems."
Chen Song smiled and looked at Mafa: "Coach Mafa, don't you think so?"
Mafa knew that Chen Song mentioning him meant trouble.
He nodded helplessly: "I'm fine."
"Alright then." Su Xiaoluo agreed to Chen Song's request: "Then I'll report it like this. That's all. You guys continue training."
After Su Xiaolu finished speaking, she turned and walked out of the training room.
The date was July 29th.
At 8:00 AM sharp, IG's official Weibo account posted an announcement:
[IG Esports Club Roster Adjustment Announcement]
In today's (June 29th) Summer Split regular season match against JDG, after discussions between the coaching staff and the club, it was decided that top laner Duke (Lee Ho-sung) would start. Coach Karam will be responsible for the draft and ban phase of this match. Thank you for your support and attention.
The comments section immediately became lively:
[Duke starting? What about TheShy?]
[Karam playing in the draft phase? Why isn't Song playing?]
Why did Song Ge add that? Does anyone know?
Are they hiding something in preparation for the intercontinental competition...?
