Chapter 62 Interception Failed
Chapter 62 Interception Failed
"Sister Serena..."
Reina nestled in the catwoman's arms and cried for a while, then quickly stopped crying. "Sister Serena, have all the bad guys been dealt with?"
Catwoman looked at Reina's expectant eyes and nodded gently: "We'll go deal with them right away!"
After Catwoman finished speaking, she winked at the two police officers.
When the three adults and one child walked out of the small dark room, the entire train station was quiet, except for the mocking voices of a group of thugs coming from the front door.
Two guys dressed in punk clothes sat on chairs, smoking and chatting, completely ignoring the commotion at the door.
When they were only three steps away from the two thugs, neither of them noticed them.
Catwoman gestured to Reina beside her, then suddenly charged forward.
She lashed out with her whip, wrapping it around the neck of a thug.
Then, with a swift side kick, the thug was knocked unconscious.
The two officers worked in perfect unison to pounce on the remaining man and pin him to the ground.
They clearly hadn't received any education in civilized law enforcement. After a few punches, the other guy didn't even make a sound before his eyes rolled back.
Through the dim light, Catwoman could see the figures moving around at the station entrance, and their occasional jeers.
A rough estimate suggests there are at least a dozen people in this group.
"We need to think of a solution."
Catwoman looked at the two officers and said, "It's probably going to be difficult for just the few of us to catch them."
The two officers exchanged a glance, their long-standing understanding allowing them to immediately grasp each other's meaning.
"We'll do as you say. Just tell us what to do," one of the officers said.
"Yes, we will follow your instructions. We will do whatever you say." Another officer quickly added.
The two officers' words gave Catwoman a headache; she was just a thief, and this kind of thing wasn't her forte.
"If only Li Wei were here, he would definitely come up with a better idea."
Catwoman herself didn't realize that when she encountered a problem, the first person she thought of was Li Wei.
Catwoman's eyes narrowed quickly; she spotted the group's weapons and ammunition.
Looking at the grenades scattered on the ground, Catwoman suddenly had an idea.
"Rina, cover your ears later. No matter what happens, your sister will be by your side."
It's clear that Catwoman's swift and decisive skills have earned them their respect.
The catwoman crouched down and gently stroked the little boy's head.
To her surprise, Reina showed no fear; instead, her eyes were filled with excitement.
"Sister Serena, I'm not afraid at all when fighting bad guys!"
...
"Oh, those spineless cowards, all they do is hide in the shadows."
"Yes, these police officers are like rats in the gutter, they're disgusting."
At the station entrance, Maroni's men hurled insults and abuse at Li Wei and his companions.
Even the slowest of them would have realized it by now.
Although the police arrived, they were definitely outnumbered; otherwise, they wouldn't have been arguing with them.
"Let's go back. These guys don't have time for this today."
The leader of the thugs laughed loudly, "Leave two men to guard the door, we'll go in and clean up a bit."
After saying that, he didn't even glance outside, turned around, and walked casually into the train station.
Seeing the thug turn to leave, Li Wei felt a little anxious.
Despite his best efforts to delay, the thugs still saw through their deception.
This also shows that sometimes being simple-minded is not a bad thing.
Gripping his gun, Li Wei gestured to the two police officers behind him.
If all else fails, the only option is to open fire to attract their attention and buy Catwoman some time.
However, the other side had more than a dozen guns, and if he were exposed, the two police officers next to him would probably be in danger.
Weighing the pros and cons in his mind, Li Wei also felt a little anxious.
Catwoman hasn't given any signal, and we don't know how things are going on the other side...
The leader of the thugs was smug and proud of his own cleverness.
However, as soon as he turned around, he heard several crisp sounds coming from under his feet.
Just as he was wondering what it was, he finally saw what had been thrown out by the dim light.
What rolled smoothly to his feet was none other than a round hand grenade!
"Run!"
He yelled and turned to run, but before he could take two steps, a violent explosion rang out behind him.
Li Wei stared in disbelief at the flames rising at the station entrance; Catwoman's signal seemed a bit too much.
After the explosion, the group of thugs who had been so arrogant just moments before completely changed their demeanor.
Some lay on the ground, their fate unknown, while others wailed in agony.
The bloody scene made Li Wei feel uncomfortable, but the thought that these guys weren't good people to begin with made him feel a little better.
Li Wei called over the somewhat dazed police officers and led them towards the station entrance.
A police officer found a rope and, without thinking twice, tied the guys up.
The arrogant thugs were quickly subdued.
Looking at the catwoman holding the child, Li Wei's face showed a hint of concern: "Is the child alright?"
Catwoman shook her head: "It's nothing, just a little frightened."
Seeing the catwoman curiously examining her child, Li Wei didn't seem frightened.
However, he didn't say much, just nodded slightly.
He signaled to the catwoman to take care of the child and arranged for two police officers to guard the thugs who were strung together.
"Let's search carefully and see if there are any other clues," he said to the remaining two officers.
The officers immediately conducted a thorough search of the train station and quickly made a discovery.
They found a large number of blue flowers, some equipment, and gas cylinders in a room.
Clearly, this place was not only a place to imprison children, but also a temporary base for Maroni to produce poison gas.
"It seems Maronny wants to produce more poison gas here."
Li Wei looked at the raw materials and equipment in front of him, his tone very solemn.
Judging from the scene, they had clearly produced poison gas.
But it was not found here where the produced poison gas was sent.
Just as Li Wei was filled with doubt and was about to interrogate these thugs, his walkie-talkie suddenly rang.
"Dude, the interception plan has failed!"
Gordon's anxious voice came through the walkie-talkie: "Klein has met up with Maronny's men."
They've obtained the weapons and supplies and are heading to downtown Gotham City!
Gordon's words made Levi's heart sink. What exactly were these guys up to?
"What is their goal?"
"It's not clear yet," Gordon replied, "but based on their route, they're most likely heading towards City Hall!"
Gordon's words made Levi frown; City Hall was the political center of Gotham.
If the scarecrow were there to release its fear-inducing properties, the consequences would be unimaginable.
"Dude, have you reported this to the mayor?"
Li Wei forced himself to calm down. "The police are severely understaffed. Could we mobilize the security forces...?"
"I've already suggested it, but the mayor doesn't agree! Buddy, we have to fight this ourselves..."
Gordon's words sent Levi's heart sinking. What exactly had these damned guys gotten from Maronny?
Sometimes I think that the destruction of Gotham might not have been such a bad thing.
