Chapter 760 - 310: I Told You to Call for Reinforcements!
Chapter 760 - 310: I Told You to Call for Reinforcements!
Fang Qingyu paused slightly upon hearing Jiang Wei’s words.
However, he didn’t immediately enter the shadowy passage.
Instead, his gaze turned toward the young man slumped in a folding chair nearby.
The young man’s face was ashen at the moment, his eyes vacant, his body trembling uncontrollably from the extreme fear, and a wet patch spread in his crotch, emitting an unpleasant smell.
Over a dozen expertly trained Tier Two guards were dispatched instantly like felled wheat.
This sight utterly crushed his every ounce of arrogance.
Fang Qingyu reached him, his expression chillingly calm.
He extended his hand, with an eerie tenderness, to straighten the dusty and sweat-stained collar of the young man’s expensive suit, smoothing the wrinkles bit by bit.
Then.
Fang Qingyu’s fingers clamped onto the young man’s shoulder like iron pincers.
He lifted him from the chair, forcing him to stand straight.
"Obey obediently."
Fang Qingyu’s voice was not loud but clearly drilled into the young man’s eardrums, "I won’t kill you, understand?"
The young man’s unfocused pupils suddenly contracted.
Like a dying fish seeing the surface of the water.
The hope of survival instantly overwhelmed his fear, he nodded frantically, making gurgling sounds, stumbling over his words: "Under... understand! Got it!"
"Good."
Fang Qingyu nodded, no longer looking at him.
Carrying him like a piece of human luggage.
He stepped into the dark passage.
Jiang Wei followed closely behind, the tips of her flaming red hair tracing a fiery path under the faint light at the passage entrance, disappearing into the thick darkness in an instant.
The passage was narrow, spiraling downward, its cold stone walls rough and damp.
Uneven stone stairs lay beneath their feet.
Every step echoed with only the sound of their light yet unbearably heavy footsteps, resonating in the dead silence.
They descended about five or six floors.
The end of the passage suddenly opened up.
Dim light filtered through from inside.
However, the scene before them was far more suffocating than pure darkness.
A huge underground space unfolded before them.
As though the ground beneath had been hollowed out.
The space was supported by massive stone columns, upon which hung a few gas lamps emitting a ghastly white glow, barely outlining the contours of the space.
The mouth of the passage connected to a suspended stone walkway.
On both sides of the walkway, tightly against the cold rock walls.
Were rows upon rows, layers upon layers of hive-like stone cells.
These stone cells had no doors.
Only iron bars as thick as a child’s arm sealed the entrance.
Fang Qingyu’s gaze swept over the nearest stone cell.
Inside was only a battered stone bed covered with dirty straw.
A woman lay curled up on the bed, naked.
Her hair was disheveled, her eyes hollow and staring at the cold stone wall, showing no reaction to the strangers appearing on the walkway, like a soul-less shell.
Fang Qingyu’s steps didn’t falter and he continued carrying the young man forward.
The walkway was long, with stone cells densely packed on either side.
Layer upon layer, extending downward, seemingly endless.
Each stone cell imprisoned a similarly naked woman with vacant eyes.
In the visible range, there were already four or fifty such cells.
Yet, the walkway continued to extend downward.
Fang Qingyu stopped halfway along the walkway.
He raised the young man, aligning him with his own line of sight.
In the darkness, Fang Qingyu’s Molten Gold Vertical Pupils pierced through the shadow.
Firmly locked onto the young man’s face.
"These people." Fang Qingyu’s voice was very calm, "What are they for?"
The young man’s words came quickly, afraid to lose value by delaying a second: "They’re merchandise! Sent to those big shots in the city! The big shots in the Inner City, they need women to serve them too, the local women can’t be touched, so... so every year they bring in pretty women from outside, train them, and then... send them up..."
"Train?"
Fang Qingyu’s voice remained unperturbed.
"Just to make them obedient."
The young man squeezed out a smile uglier than crying, desperately distancing himself, "I generally don’t participate, just oversee the goods, ensure the goods... ensure they reach the city alive."
Fang Qingyu nodded expressionlessly.
As if merely verifying an unimportant fact.
Carrying the young man, he continued down the walkway.
The scenes in the stone cells on either side remained a repetition of despair.
Finally, the walkway reached its end.
At the end was a relatively spacious stone cave.
Here, there were no barred stone cells, more like a torture chamber.
In the center of the stone cave stood a dark iron frame, with several barbed chains and whips hanging from it.
A pile of oddly shaped, rust-stained iron tools were stacked in the corner.
The most glaring.
Was on the floor in the center of the stone cave.
A curled-up blackened human-like figure.
The air was saturated with the awful stench of burnt flesh.
Next to the charcoal-like figure, a similarly naked woman hugged her knees, curled up in a cold corner.
Her body trembled violently, her eyes empty as she gazed at the charcoal.
Her mouth emitted unconscious, wounded-animal-like "hur-hur" sounds.
Paying no heed to the entrance of Fang Qingyu and Jiang Wei.
Fang Qingyu’s gaze settled on the charcoal figure for a moment.
Then he turned again to the young man held in his hand, his voice revealing neither happiness nor anger: "And here, what’s this for?"
The young man glanced at the charcoal and the soulless woman.
His face showed a grudging expression: "Disobedient goods need to be disciplined, so they remember, rest assured! We’re mindful, won’t harm their faces or bodies, won’t affect their appearance, just let them know pain, know fear, then they’re obedient..."
