Chapter 728: Apocalyptic!
Chapter 728: Apocalyptic!
Vireth, who seemed so unstoppable, was killed so easily!
It was a surreal thing to witness among the many surreal things that Achilles had now gone through since being taken by her.
And everything felt like it was moving so rapidly that he wanted to tell everyone just to hold on for a second as at this time, his eyes flashed coldly.
Many of the injured and barely moving Gilded Ones here had swallowed his Observable Force and cycled it through their organs as...with how decimated their Existences were, this Source Lifeform would not mind if he assimilated them, right?
His gaze locked onto a Silurian Paleozoic Ira Gilded One who seemed on his last straw as...
’Assimilate!’
POP!
The heabily injured body of thst Gilded One popped like a balloon and disappeared as Achilles felt a wave of immensity bloom within his Inner Dominion as he began processing a Silurian Gilded One!
And in the midst of this battle, as he had one...he would have more slowly, he targetted those closest to death with their Existences collapsing from the strike of the Source Lifeform as he began Assimilating them one after another!
But just as he began this glorious harvest...
Then the space above cracked.
HOONG!
Something descended through the shattered dimensional fabric, titanic and Superbius, rivers of pride composing its physical substance rather than merely expressing from it, ten times the mass of even the biggest Gilded Ones here.
Its presence was carrying the cold evaluative attention of something that had sent a Legion ahead of itself and had arrived personally to assess the results.
Achilles focused on it and received nothing coherent in return!
His Architect’s Perception, which had categorized beings from Surface Depth to Gilded One across his entire existence, produced question marks.
The entity’s gaze moved across the degraded Legion, across the torn Observable Existence, across the crimson-gold staining the surrounding space, and found the Source Lifeform.
It spoke with a voice that was massive and flat.
"We never would have expected to see a genuine Source Lifeform here. We began paying attention after our people started dying here, and now for a Gilded Legion to be struck down with your appearance in this region."
It looked at the degraded formations.
"We have taken too many losses, haven’t we? It seems there is an infestation occurring, and we now have to clear it out."
BOOM!
The Source Lifeform looked up at the entity.
His expression became cold!
"You wouldn’t," he said.
The entity smiled.
It was a brutal smile!
"Oh, but it is already done. The order has been given. I was sent to confirm, and I have confirmed."
"We shall meet again soon. After the dust has settled."
...!
The Source Lifeform’s expression went heavy, and he moved immediately, tapping his hand outward toward the positions where Achilles and Taylor and the other anomalies stood.
As this happened, Achilles felt his existence screaming out with danger as...
Silver-gold pillars of metallic light began descending through cracks splitting the Observable Existence’s upper dimensional fabric, each one light years in size, the space shattering along their entry paths in ways that communicated finality.
Achilles felt immense danger from those pillars, his foundations unanimous in their assessment, every layer of his existence producing the same signal simultaneously!
He managed to barely glimpse up to gain a few details!
Ealdor-class Existential Acedia Ordnance warheads have been sent down.
Classification: Taboo capability reverse-engineered from THE First Cause, combined with the Ego of Acedia.
Effect upon detonation: The targeted region undergoes Causal Stilling. THE First Cause’s expression is inverted and weaponized as it removes all progression from the affected space. Every form of advancement, cultivation, growth, healing, and development ceases within the Stilled region permanently. The Causal Stilling does not disperse. It persists until actively reversed by a being with direct access to THE First Cause’s authority.
Other effects include Existential Acedia Dredge conversion. All lifeforms within the detonation radius are transformed by the Causal Stilling into Existential Acedia Dredges. Dredge state characteristics: complete loss of independent cognizance, existence locked into a single imperative of seeking and infecting other lifeforms, bodies continuing to operate without cultivation or growth or healing, wounds present but non-fatal, movements driven by the Acedia Ego’s imperative rather than any surviving will. Dredges respond exclusively to the signature of Gilded Ones bearing Acedia Ego.
$*%&$?????
The information became hard to grasp!
...!
He saw these pieces of information, and then...
WAP!
Then his body disappeared!
The tap had reached him.
Whatever the Source Lifeform had sent toward his position had taken him before those pillars completed their descent, before whatever they carried upon detonation could find him inside the Observable Existence where the lockdown had held him until moments ago.
The last thing his perception registered before the transit completed was the torn space of the Observable Existence splitting further as those silver-gold pillars continued their approach.
And then he was elsewhere!
As he disappeared, he roared out...
"ASSIMILATE!"
Since it looked like a catastrophe equivalent to an apocalypse wss descending on that Observable Existence, he went all out and pulled to Assimilate all Gilded Ones, of which there were hundreds in the Gilded Legion and in that Citadel in THE Braneworld Observable Existence, who had cycled his Observable Force!
...!
HUUM!
He pulled and he pulled many as his existence seethed!
---
Across the full sweep of recorded history, civilizations that had flourished for tens of thousands of years ended not through gradual decline or the slow erosion of war but through single moments of decision made by beings who never visited the places they destroyed.
A hand moved. A command was transmitted. Something distant detonated.
And everything that had been, simply was not anymore.
The libraries ceased to exist alongside the librarians. The children’s songs that had been passed between generations for millennia went silent at the same moment as the children who would have carried them forward.
The architecture that had taken centuries of accumulated craft to produce returned to component particles without anyone present to witness the return.
The beings who gave the orders experienced nothing. No weight, no resistance, no sensation corresponding to the scale of what their decision had produced. The gap between the magnitude of destruction and the effort required to initiate it was so vast that the destruction barely registered as an event from the initiator’s perspective.
What remained in the destroyed space was not rubble or ruins or any artifact that could be examined and understood.
What remained was the particular silence of something that had been full and was now permanently empty, the absence carrying the shape of everything it had replaced.
Pain. Then nothingness.
In that order, without exception, across every civilization that had ever been ended this way.
Which was most of them.
