Chapter 142
Chapter 142
Hotch was called into Gideon's office as soon as he arrived at the office after a nearly drunken vacation.
Beside Gideon stood a stern-looking detective.
"This is Special Agent Shearer, of the Office of Professional Responsibility." Gideon said it very clearly, looking Hotch in the eye, making sure he caught every word.
Hotch's eyes widened in surprise, and his mind quickly flashed through his recent cases. He really didn't remember any suspected violations.
"Don't be nervous." Shearer reached out to Hotch, his tone very gentle. "Just wanted to talk to you."
Hotch frowned slightly, but still reached out his hand quickly to shake him. The other party's strength was moderate, and there was not much temptation or malice in the feeling. At the same time, he noticed that the other party's eyes were quite restrained but quickly looked at himself.
Hotch immediately came to the conclusion that, obviously, he was in big trouble.
"In my office? Or are you going to use our chat room?" Gideon hesitantly gave up his seat.
Shearer looked at Hotch, "What do you think, Agent Hotchner, where would you feel more at ease?"
Hotch glanced at Gideon, and while he didn't know what the Professional Responsibility Office wanted to investigate, he figured he'd better not show any discomfort with his boss's office. "I'm fine with that."
"So, Gideon, would you mind going out and letting us have a private chat?" Shearer turned his gaze to Gideon.
Hotch observed that his eyes quickly became indifferent, maybe—this conversation was not directed at him?
Gideon nodded, he gave Hotch another look, and left the room with deep concern, closing the door behind them.
Then he went downstairs without hesitation and intercepted Rossi who was about to turn into the garage.
"Get out and talk." Before Rossi could protest, he was in the car.
"Jason, what's going on?" Rossi graciously drove the car away from the building, knowing full well that Gideon would never take this obvious anti-surveillance measure to talk to him unless necessary.
"It's up to me to ask, what happened?" Gideon looked back to make sure he hadn't been noticed.
"I just got into work and haven't walked in the door, I don't think anything happened to me." Rossi gave him a confused look, he didn't think Gideon needed to make such a big move about his reunion with Hotch.
"Or, what happened?" Gideon's tone was vaguely angry.
And Rossi was confused, "Jason, I'm afraid you have to explain, I don't know what you're talking about."
"I mean Aaron."
"You're well aware of my relationship with him." Rossi hesitated for a second, "Yes, we did get back together, but it won't affect—"
"No." Gideon quickly interrupted him, "I don't care what relationship you have with him right now. Someone from the Office of Professional Responsibility showed up in my office early this morning and asked to investigate Aaron."
"Aaron?" Rossi was a little taken aback. If he himself was investigated, it would be nothing new, but Aaron has always left no clues except himself. And Rossi believes that if this matter is investigated, the first person to be found is definitely himself.
"The Office of Professional Responsibility suspects that he failed to report his abuse." Gideon took a deep breath. "David, I'm just asking, is there anything you should have confessed to me? Any case."
"Abusive?" Rossi's eyes widened.
"Listen, I know that even many of us don't want our scars to be known by our co-workers, but it's no small matter, and if you know any—David, I'm sure with your relationship with him, you wouldn't I know. All I can say is, I'm disappointed in your behavior."
Rossi took a deep breath, "I'm pretty sure Hotch wasn't being abused in any sense, not threatened, not controlled."
"Really? Even after you broke up?" Gideon still stared at him, "It's not easy for anyone to leave you, and our job is too bad, can you guarantee that he doesn't?"
"I promise I've made sure that he's not involved in anything like that." Other than that with me. Rossi didn't avoid his gaze, and he did check in occasionally to make sure Hotch wasn't really putting himself in danger.
"That means..." Gideon's eyes grew sharper, "You do worry about him being involved in similar behavior."
"..." Rossi was stunned for a moment, feeling a little guilty.
"I don't doubt that Shearer will interview you next. And I don't think I need to remind you, you know how bad things are between him and you." Gideon shook his head, "I'm not worried about Aaron, he won't say what he doesn't want to say .But you have to be ready, David - don't admit to any accusations."
"I don't need your reminder." Rossi sighed from the bottom of his heart. "I know him."
