Anna didn't find it funny.Although it was difficult for her to come up with an "interesting" view, in the past two months, everything the boss did made her feel: not interesting at all.past two months?Perhaps it is more accurate to correct it to the past six months, counting from when Roman kidnapped Whitford's son and trained him to be his little pet—at least that's what Vlad reported to her when she was still in France to replace him. Roman came forward to manage a transaction with a profit of tens of millions. At that time, Anna was dubious and didn't take Vlad's words seriously: Roman had never had the slightest interest in men, so she believed that this was just part of a plot carefully designed by Roman to make Richard Whitford pays off debts. When she returned from France, Anna found that the boy had run away, Vlad had been fired, and Roman was restless—she had never seen him like that before.
There was tension in Roman, something that had been firmly entrenched on his shoulders for the past few weeks.During this time, the most obvious reason she could think of for the tension was that Roman wasn't sleeping with random people anymore, which was almost unheard of for Roman.Even the news of Whitford's death didn't soften him up, and if anything, Roman became more emotional after that.
Anna began to guess that the real reason for Roman's weird mood was when he asked her to investigate Dominic Bomer's details. Now that Whitford is dead, there is only one reason why Roman is interested: the beautiful young man in Dominique's arms. She could roughly see what attracted Roman: the child's exquisite facial features, and a mouth that could kill people. It's just that Anna didn't expect Roman to like this type at all-it should be said that as long as he has a dick, he wouldn't like it.Even so, she hadn't been able to guess the extent to which Luke Whitford had affected her normally poised and level-headed boss.
The first clue is that Roman broke the schedule and ran to London as soon as he said it.When he dismissed the bodyguards that night and ran off alone, Ana wasn't amused at all—with Vlad's dismissal, the burden of security fell on her shoulders, and she was already busy enough.Anna didn't like the fact that Roman gave her work and tripped her up.Thankfully, Roman was back in his hotel room unscathed within hours. But when she went to Roman's room uninvited to convey her displeasure about it, she found him sitting on the floor with a bottle of vodka in his hand, looking eagerly at him.
The sight stopped her.Roman doesn't drink.Haven't been drinking since a long time ago.
When Roman was 17, his father died of a drug overdose. This is well-known information; but very few people know that he was actually poisoned.Daniel Demidov is a ruthless businessman, but also an excellent husband and father. He was very close to Roman, and Daniel's death hit Roman hard.Anna knew that it was Roman himself who killed the man responsible for his father's death. But since then, his situation can only be regarded as a sharp turn for the worse.Roman started drinking heavily. This drinking continued for several months, until he was finally taken to the hospital with severe alcohol intoxication. When Anna arrived at the hospital, she found Roman's mother clinging to her son, crying and begging him, for her sake and for the sake of her sisters, to stop doing this kind of thing.
If you go too, who will protect us, Roma?Seeing her son pretending to be deaf to her cries, she finally said this.
As far as Anna knew, Roman never drank alcohol again. But he can always find a bottle or two lying around.A few years ago, Anna asked him, since he stopped drinking, why did he keep the wine?Roman told her that's how he likes to test himself.
That's why, seeing Roman staring at a bottle of vodka with that frighteningly emotional expression, jaw clenched, alarm bells go off in Anna.A few days later, he canceled the flight to Italy and dismissed the bodyguards again, and this time Anna was more than a little angry. But anyway, when Roman called him the next day, she noticed a change in him immediately: his voice sounded a lot more relaxed, and the tense tension in his tone had disappeared. When he informed her of his location so that she could arrange for bodyguards to go there, she didn't even have any fluctuations in her heart when she learned that the other party was in Luke Whitford's apartment.
But, even then, she could not have guessed what would turn upside down after that.
In the weeks after that, Roman asked her to reorganize his schedule, delegating most of his authority, and only leaving London for particularly important business meetings. As soon as the meeting was over, Roman boarded the plane and flew back to London. He also took time out of his busy schedule to help Luke Whitford sort out the mess left by his father's death.
Anna saw all this in her eyes, both surprised and disbelieving. In all the years she's known Roman, she's never seen him so...obsessed with anyone.Said "obsessed" because she couldn't find the right words to describe it.After all, she didn't see the interaction between Roman and Whitford with her own eyes—it was because Roman didn't allow anyone to get close to him, and even his own family members were isolated from the contact range for safety reasons—Anna concluded The verdict: the obsession was only sexual.
So she just had to wait patiently for Roman's weird obsession with the Whitford kid to pass.Yet as the weeks passed and nothing of the sort happened, her confusion grew.
But Anna is not that stupid, so she will not express her doubts about Roman's doing these things.Of course, that didn't mean she wouldn't question him.
"So," Anna said quickly, seeing Roman come out of the shower. It wasn't long after the other party got off the plane back from New York.If the routine he's developed over the past two months hasn't changed, he'll get dressed and head out to meet his curly-haired little boyfriend.
Roman threw down the towel and opened the wardrobe. "Is something wrong, Anna?"
She admired his figure unhurriedly, and wondered if she was 15 years younger, would her feelings for Roman not be just a big sister like she is now.
"How long are we going to be stationed in England?" Anna was careful to sound casual. "We haven't left England for almost two months."
Hearing her question, Roman stopped what he was doing, and looked at her carefully with his light-colored eyes.
She refused to show cowardice. She was a member of the KGB, so she wouldn't be so easily intimidated.
Roman pursed his lips and took out a pair of pants. "Actually, I want you to find a building in London. The first criteria are security and central location. The price is not important."
She gasped sharply. "you mean……"
"That's right," Roman said. "I'm moving the head office from Geneva to London."
Ana couldn't say or do anything but stare at him.Relocating the headquarters from a tax haven like Switzerland to the UK is not a practical decision - and that would be an understatement.
She opened her mouth, and closed it again without saying a word.
Roman sighed. "I'll give you two minutes to speak up if you have any objections," he said, putting on a clean shirt and beginning to button it.
"As your subordinate, I have no right to raise objections," Anna said, a smile slowly forming on the corner of her mouth. "But as an old friend of yours, let me tell you this: I never imagined that I would one day see you being run around by a baby-faced British brat while you let him braid your pigtails. This obsessed look really suits you."
Roman glared at her with eyes that could kill people.
Anna shrank her shoulders, but still met his gaze, and the corners of her mouth twitched slightly.
He took the key and said, "Concentrate on your work, Anya."
With a faint smile on her face, she watched him leave. She didn't know how the Whitford boy did it, but she was glad.Roman paid too much for his work.Ana is also a workaholic, but there is one striking difference between her and Roman: she has a home waiting for her, and Roman doesn't.
Perhaps, this is about to change.
